The C-400 is a four-engine military transport aircraft designed primarily for tactical airlift operations. It is based on the real-world Airbus A400M Atlas and serves as one of the main transport aircraft in Turboprop Flight Simulator.

The aircraft is available from the start of the game at no cost and is used extensively throughout the game's tutorials and training missions. It also serves as the foundation for several specialized variants, including the HC-400, MC-400, and KC-400.

The C-400 is modeled after the Airbus A400M Atlas, a European military transport aircraft developed by Airbus Defence and Space.

The real aircraft first flew on 11 December 2009 and has been manufactured in Europe since 2007. Like its real-world counterpart, the in-game C-400 features four TP400-D6 turboprop engines, a high-mounted wing, a large cargo compartment, and a modern glass cockpit.

The C-400's appearance closely follows the design language of the A400M, including its overall shape and exterior paint scheme. Its cockpit and interior are also strongly reminiscent of the real aircraft.
Following the introduction of transparent windows and additional interactive aircraft features in version 1.31.1, the C-400 gained two usable emergency escape hatches. One of these is positioned behind the cockpit door.
Its cargo compartment is the largest among the aircraft currently available in the simulator. The available space allows it to transport combinations such as:

• Two small vehicles
• One medium vehicle and one small vehicle
• One large vehicle and one small vehicle

This makes the C-400 particularly useful for missions involving the transportation of vehicles and other heavy cargo.

The C-400 acts as the base design for several specialized aircraft in the game:

• HC-400 — Search-and-rescue variant
• MC-400 — Special operations variant
• KC-400 — Aerial refueling tanker
• AC-400 — Ground-attack variant

A separate civilian version of the aircraft is also operated by Turbo Lines as an AI-controlled aircraft, although this version does not have a specific in-game designation.

The C-400 is generally considered a powerful and capable aircraft. Its four engines provide a strong thrust-to-weight ratio, while its large fuel capacity gives it the longest endurance of any aircraft in the simulator.
Its strong performance allows it to operate from relatively rough terrain and perform demanding maneuvers. The aircraft also has a particularly good climb rate.
However, the C-400 is not without its drawbacks. Its relatively high stall speed makes short-field landings more difficult than they are in smaller aircraft. Its large wingspan can also become a liability when operating near mountains, buildings, or other obstacles in confined areas.
Engine failures can be especially challenging because the loss of thrust on one side produces significant yaw. Correcting this asymmetric thrust requires prompt pilot input.
Despite its large fuel capacity providing excellent range and endurance, the aircraft can take longer to prepare for another flight compared with smaller aircraft. Overall, the C-400 trades maneuverability and ease of operation for cargo capacity, power, range, and durability.
